GM's production halted for one week due to severe flooding causing extensive waterlogging in the factory premises
Due to extensive water damage to its factory buildings, Guangzhou Honda halted production yesterday and is expected to resume operations within approximately one week. The Guangzhou Water Authority has urgently deployed five layers of defense measures to prevent further flooding at the Guangzhou Honda factory.Reports indicate that torrential rains starting from the evening before yesterday have caused severe flooding at the Guangzhou Honda plant, with extensive areas inside the facility submerged and the southern gate surrounded by a vast expanse of water.Following emergency rescue operations conducted by the Guangzhou Three Defenses Department and the Huangpu District Armed Forces Department, the hazardous situation has been largely resolved as of yesterday afternoon.Guangzhou Water Authority analysis revealed that the flooding at the Guangzhou Honda plant was caused not only by extreme rainfall intensity and tidal surges from the Pearl River, but also exposed a critical oversight: the Wuyong River section within the Honda facility had not undergone synchronized management during upstream and downstream development projects. This left the right tributary of Wuyong River vulnerable to flood discharge risks, directly resulting in upstream riverbanks breaching during heavy precipitation events and subsequently submerging the entire industrial complex.
