Su Bo, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated at the Third Green Industry Conference held in Guangzhou yesterday that efforts will be made in five areas, including the industrialization of new energy vehicles, to accelerate the development of energy-saving and environmental protection industries and promote green industrial growth.

Resource and environmental constraints are prominent contradictions facing China's economic and social development.The State Council recently issued the "Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Industries," which proposes that by 2015, the energy conservation and environmental protection industry should become a new pillar industry of the national economy.

Su Bo emphasized that to advance the energy-saving and environmental protection industry, it is crucial to accelerate the demonstration and industrialization of new energy vehicle technologies.He stated that the state has initiated 25 technological innovation projects for the new energy vehicle industry, allocating 4 billion yuan in central fiscal subsidies to prioritize support for projects including pure electric passenger vehicles and plug-in passenger vehicles, pure electric commercial vehicles and plug-in commercial vehicles, fuel cell passenger vehicles, and power battery systems.The government will continue to advance the new energy vehicle demonstration program while promoting the industrialization of semiconductor lighting.Su Bo explained that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the "LED Industry Development Action Plan (2013-2015)" in late 2012 to promote key technological innovation and industrialization across all segments of the LED supply chain. The MIIT also collaborated with the China Development Bank to explore financial support policies tailored to the characteristics of the LED industry.

Third, implement key projects for industrial clean production.Su Bo introduced that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has initiated the preparation of the 'Implementation Plan for Mercury Reduction, Lead Reduction, and High-Toxicity Pesticide Substitution Project (2013-2015)', which is scheduled for release and implementation in early December this year.Furthermore, the demonstration of water-saving technologies in key industrial sectors and the breakthrough in critical common technologies for energy conservation and environmental protection are also crucial aspects of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's efforts to promote the development of the energy-saving and environmental protection industry.
